St. Therese of the Child Jesus was born in France in 1873. At age 15, she chose contemplative life, like her two older sisters before her, and entered the Carmel of Lisieux. In addition to religious responsibilities, St. Therese was a writer. She penned an autobiography, poetry, letters, and prayers. Her poems give praise to God for His unfailing love and speak to her desire to model her life after Christ. Also, St. Therese lived this devotion in “little ways,” becoming known as the “Little Flower of Jesus.” She died at the young age of 24, but her writings continue to inspire the faithful. St. Therese was canonized in 1925 by Pius XI and declared a Doctor of the Church in 1997.[2]

the Order of Virgins.
This afternoon here at St. Mary's Cathedral at 2 pm. Bishop Scott McCaig will be present together with several priests and a number of visiting consecrated virgins.
This is a rare opportunity to see this beautiful ceremony. Holly would dearly love as many people as choose to to join her on this day as she is consecrated for the rest of her life to the Order of Virgins.

Doors open & Confessions begin at 4 pm.
We no longer need to continue physical distancing. However, due to the size of the cathedral we will continue to do so as much as possible for everyone’s comfort and protection. Therefore, we will continue to have the ushers seat you and we will continue to follow the same form of receiving Holy Communion as we have been doing throughout the pandemic.
We are no longer required to wear masks. Those who are wearing masks when the arrive will be guided to the tabernacle (left-hand) side of the cathedral. Those who are not wearing masks when they arrive will be guided to the baptismal (right-hand) side of the cathedral.
PLEASE SANITIZE YOUR HANDS WHEN YOU ARRIVE AND FOLLOW THE USHERS INSTRUCTIONS AS TO WHERE TO BE SEATED.

367. What are the sources of the morality of human acts?
The morality of human acts depends on three sources: the object chosen, either a true or apparent good: the intention of the subject who acts, that is, the purpose for which the subject performs the act; and the circumstances of the act, which include its consequences.

368. When is an act morally good?
An act is morally good when it assumes simultaneously the goodness of the object, of the end, and of circumstances. A chosen object can by itself vitiate an act in its entirety, even if the intention is good. It is not licit to do evil so that good may result from it. An evil end corrupts the action, even if the object is good in itself. On the other hand, a good end does not make an act good if the object of that act is evil, since the end does not justify the means. Circumstances can increase or diminish the responsibility of the one who is acting but they cannot change the moral quality of the acts themselves. They never make good an act which is in itself evil.

369. Are there acts which are always illicit?
There are some acts which, in and of themselves, are always illicit by reason of their object (for example, blasphemy, homicide, adultery). Choosing such acts entails a disorder of the will, that is, a moral evil which can never be justified by appealing to the good effects which could possibly result from them.
