IN Psalm 96 we read these words:
"Give the Lord, you Families of people
Give the Lord glory and power,
Give the Lord the glory of his name."
But what is Glory?
The glory of God has many meanings. I could refer to the display of HIs magnificence. It could also mean praise and honor being showered on HIs name. Regardless of which we choose, it is just the tip of the iceberg: because God's glory has so much depth and meaning beyond our comprehension. His glory may be used to signify His magnificence and His splendor and in a biblical context this never changes. So with this in mind, how do we apply this to the question--- What is the Glory of God?
The dictionary definition of glory is most often defined as great praise, splendor or honor. Saint Paul on the other hand states glory in other terms, a few of which are:
Corinthians 10:34 SO whether you eat or drink or whatever you do, do it for the glory of God. Here the glory of God refers to honoring God with our lives.
Hebrews 1:3 He is the radiance of the glory of God and the exact imprint of his nature, and he upholds the universe by the word of his power. Here he notes Jesus as the radiance of God's glory.
While Revelation 15:8 speaks of the sanctuary filled with the glory of God. Revelation 21:11 note the glory of God coming from the New Jerusalem. Revelation 21:23 adds that the glory of < as an external communication of God's fullness. IN other words, God's glory is "who God is" and makes known to us all the good things. It is the external declaration of the internal communion of the Gather, Son and Spirit... It is God going public with the knowledge of Himself and the love for Himself that has been the Trinitarian joy. God made known... is the glory of God.
More to come next week.
