Good afternoon, Vita Nova families!
First, I want to say a huge thank you to our youth leaders for their dedication and commitment to our youth during my time as Youth Minister. They are instrumental in making our youth nights both happen and enjoyable. Youth leaders plan the games, give talks, lead small groups, and close the night in prayer.
Our youth leaders sacrifice Sunday evenings with their families to engage with our youth and foster an environment of faith and fellowship. This year, our leaders are facing extra challenges with family and work responsibilities that make coming every Sunday evening a challenge. For the past two Sundays, due to conflicts, there have only been two adults with our youth; with Safe Environment guidelines, this creates a challenging environment for our adults.
Parents, this is where we need your help. Beginning Sunday, 10/23, I am assigning two families to help with Vita Nova each youth night. While I ask that both parents attend, I understand that you may also have other obligations that only allow one parent to attend. With the number of families involved, this means you will have 1-2 nights for the year that we are requiring your help. If you are unavailable on your assigned weekend, please work directly with other parents to trade weekends. Families where one parent is already helping as youth leaders with either Vita Nova or Carpe Diem are excluded from the list - thank you for already being present!
When you come to help, your responsibilities include:
- Cleaning up snack during games
- Playing games with the youth
- Participating in the Proclaim
- Helping with Small Groups (either by leading or by being the second adult in the room, per Safe Environment guidelines)
If you enjoy coming, we ask that you prayerfully consider joining us as a youth leader each week!
In the event that we have two more weekends with inadequate adult supervision, we will suspend Vita Nova meetings until January and possibly for the remainder of the year. Please believe me when I say this is the last thing that I want to happen, especially for the youth!! Please also understand that a lack of adult supervision is serious and needs to be addressed.
Thank you for reading this email, and please let me know if you have any questions.
Rebecca
