Hi there, everyone! Here's our Flocknote for this Friday! As I write this Flocknote (prior to Game 2 of the Gaurdians/Yankees series for those who are baseball fans) I find my mind drawn to Jeremiah 1:6-7: “Ah, Lord GOD!” I said, “I do not know how to speak. I am too young!
But the LORD answered me, Do not say, “I am too young.” To whomever I send you, you shall go;whatever I command you, you shall speak."
When the season began, I wrote the Gaurdians off, they were too young, they didn't have the star power (outside of Jose), they weren't going anywhere, they were destined for last (or close to last) place. But here we are, rooting for them in the playoffs, something I never thought would happen for the youngest team in baseball. But, if even the youngest team in baseball can make it to the playoffs then we too need to remember that, when we're tempted to think of all that disqualifies us...we're too old, we don't know enough, we're not good enough...whatever it might be, that God can STILL do great things with & through us. The Gaurdians can (& did) make the playoffs & we too, can allow God to work through us.
1) Anointing of the Sick: Don't forget that our annual Anointing of the Sick Mass is this Sunday, October 16th, @ the 9:00 Mass. 2) Living Rosary for Life: We will be praying a Living Rosary for Life will be prayed this coming Monday, October 17th @ 7:00 pm at St. Pat's in the Church. 3) Prayer for the Sick: As we celebrate the Sacrament of the Anointing of the Sick here's a prayer within the rite itself that we might pray on our own for all those who are sick & suffering:
Father in heaven,
through this holy anointing
grant our brothers and sisters
comfort in their suffering.
When they are afraid, give them courage,
when afflicted, give them patience,
when dejected, afford them hope,
and when alone, assure them of the support
of your holy people.
Through Christ our Lord. R/ Amen.
Have a Blessed Week!
