Dear Holy Trinity families,
Thank you so much for your prayer and support this year. We have had an incredible start with Homecoming, the Marathon, NWEA testing, fire prevention week, etc., all going smoothly. I am a firm believer in the power of prayer and I know that God has heard your prayers for this successful school year, especially through offering a daily rosary and hearing Holy Mass.
With Fr. Aaron’s departure to join the Norbertines, we only had one month with Fr. John’s help regarding our choir. The questions began to arise: what would happen to our school choir? Who could help us keep our musical education at Holy Trinity School? God’s timing in answering our prayers for a music teacher could not be better.
On our Lady of the Rosary’s feast day, we interviewed a remarkable, talented music teacher. She has experience in both instrumental and vocal music and had taught in a classroom before she began her private studio business. She has homeschooled her children as a faithful Catholic mother of eight and I knew she would be a great fit in our community and a fantastic addition to our terrific faculty. I am pleased to announce that we have hired Rachel Dietz as our music teacher for this year. She will take over the choir classes and start up our band program. Elementary music will also now be taught by her, as well as a section of 7th grade math. Fr. John will still be directing the schola on Wednesday mornings before and during Mass.
If your child wants to take band or instrument lessons, please notify Mrs. Mielke for the time being. Mrs. Dietz will begin teaching on Monday Oct. 31st. When you meet her, please extend to her a warm welcome to our school and let her know how much we appreciate her offering her time and talent to help form our students musically. God is good!

CLASSICAL CORNER
The CiRCE Institute is an organization dedicated to furthering the revival of Classical Education in America. They have resources for educators, parents and schools. They hold an annual classical education conference and host webinars, online courses, etc. My favorite things from the CiRCE Institute are their articles, particularly the ones from Joshua Gibbs in a blog called The Cedar Room. He often writes about the application of classical education to the classroom or about problems that often affect classical schools or teachers. I find his writing approachable and his conclusions often wise. He also has a podcast called Proverbial which delves into the deep meaning behind the proverbs we use in our daily lives. Check it out!
REMINDERS & ANNOUNCEMENTS
- Jeans & Flannel Day will be tomorrow, Oct. 19. If a student does not have a flannel shirt, they may wear a t-shirt with no graphics on it. No ripped jeans.
- Oct. 20-21: NO SCHOOL - Fall Break
- Holy Trinity volleyball players are selling pies from Carlson's Orchard to fundraise for new uniforms. The last day to buy a pie is tomorrow, Oct. 19.
- Candy donations are needed for the upcoming Winsted trick-or-treat event (Oct. 28) and the All Saints Day party (Nov. 1). Please drop off donations at the high school front desk by Oct. 27. Thank you!
- Reminder: Elementary students should bring warm clothes (hats, mittens, and coats) for outdoor recess
- NHS students are offering tutoring on Thursdays at 7:30 AM. Any grade, any subject is welcome!
Annual Marathon Update
We have currently raised 83% of our goal for the Annual Marathon for Non-Public Education!
Keep up the good work, everyone!
We have surpassed this in the last few years due to the hard work of families reaching out to benefactors. There are plenty of prizes for students as they reach their goals, including a Nintendo Switch, Holy Trinity Bucks for local businesses, uniform passes, ice cream parties, days off from school, and Winstock Music Festival 2022 tickets.
Our end date for accepting donations is Oct. 26, so we have 8 days left to reach our goal!

Although Holy Trinity School is accepting online donations, we also accept cash and checks, which can be added to your family folders or dropped off at the high school office.

All Saints Day Party
To celebrate the Feast of All Saints Day, we will be holding our 3rd Annual All Saints Day Party on Nov. 1 from 12:30 to 2:30 PM. All students are encouraged to dress up as their favorite saint! The party is for PreK- 6th grade students, but students in 7-12th grade are invited to dress up as well! High school students are invited to sign up to help run games.
Preschool students who attend M-W-F at Holy Trinity are also invited to attend our All Saints Day Party with a parent.
We need parent volunteers to help set up, tear down and chaperone this event. We also need candy, cakes, and supplies for prizes. You can find all our needs on the sign-up genius. Please have candy and supplies into the office by Oct. 28. Thank you!
