If you love plants, flowers, decorating, watering, or simply want to help make Holy Cross look its best, then the newly forming Art & Environment Ministry is for you!
It’s for those who not only love these activities, but want to work to make them happen by organizing the floral tributes weekly, planning seasonal plants and décor, decorating (put up and take down) for Easter, Christmas, and other occasions, and anything else the group sees as needed to make our church beautiful, warm and welcoming.
Our first meeting will be on Wednesday, October 19, 2022 at 10am, so please pray about this ministry and if it feels like a good fit for you! Please let Kaky & Annette know if you’re coming by RSVPing to Annette in-person in the office, or email aflagg@holycrosslynchburg.org.

As part of our strategic plan and in response to the previous Life Group survey, several Life Groups will be formed next month. We will focus on parent groups to support the domestic church and family.
These groups will be guided by the Holy Spirit and the needs of the members. The goal is to support each other as we journey through life phases.

NEW CEMETERY UPDATES!!
Please note the beautiful flowers displayed on the markers as seen in the photos. This is the correct manner in which to honor loved ones with flowers and keep the grounds clear for mowing and maintenance.
The St Joseph of Arimathea Ministry will begin picking up loose flowers and other items at Holy Cross Cemetery at the end of October. Rules are now in place guiding the committee on what is permitted and not.
The need to bring conformity to the Cemetery has been one of the main goals of the committee since it’s formation earlier this year. The committee, going forward, will continue to monitor activity at the Cemetery into the future.
If you have a family gravesite and would like to remove items before the committee begins its process, it would be greatly appreciated.

2022 Public Square Rosary Crusade!
The annual Public Square Rosary was held in downtown Lynchburg this past Saturday, Oct 15th. Ours was one of over 20,000 rallies held across America. Thanks to all the attendees from Holy Cross who came and prayed!
Meet Our Seminarians
We are incredibly blessed to have so many holy men discerning the priesthood of Jesus Christ for the Diocese of Richmond. Please continue to pray for these men and for all those who will be entering seminary formation.

The Bible and The Mass
Come explore the Biblical roots of our Mass and enrich your understanding and appreciation for Sunday worship.
Where do we find the Mass in the Bible? What is the relationship between the two? Discover why the liturgy is a major theme that runs through the entire Bible, from Genesis to the Book of Revelation.
We will not only look to the Law, the Prophets, and life and teachings of Jesus, we’ll also lean on the Doctors of the Church to enhance our understanding of the Mass.
We’ll see how the New Testament is concealed in the Old, the Old is revealed in the New, and why both point directly to the Mass, the sign of the New Covenant.
Uncover how and why all of God’s action, in creation and redemption, is ordered to the Mass.

The sale of fruit benefits Churches for Urban Ministry in many ways to support youth and families in inner city Lynchburg, including Camp Timothy, a Community Food Pantry, Families in Need Program, Timothy Afterschool Program, Training Young Men Successfully and other special programs.
To view available fruit choices and prices, see below. You may print out an order form or pick one up in the Commons. Please leave orders with checks in the Office or give them to Judith Boyd or Kaky Bowden.

2021 Jesse Tree Ministry
Elves Delivered! This past week Jesse Tree gifts, food, and even stockings for the younger children, were distributed to 77 households in our area. Families came from our parish community, as well as those referred to us by Interfaith Outreach Association, Lynchburg Social Services, Miriam’s House and McGurk House.
Thanks: Many thanks to all those who made the 2021 Jesse Tree Ministry a success!
We will resume distributing the monthly bags in the Commons the first weekend in February.
