Hello, Everyone!
Snow or not, this group is having fun learning about insects.
Lady Bugs are fascinating...did you know they're not just red? They can be white or yellow! Some Ladybugs have lots of dots on their shell - some have none!
Ask your child: How many legs does a Ladybug have?
How many sets of wings?
How can Ladybugs smell or taste? (Antennae)
What is a Ladybugs favorite food? (Aphids...up to 50 a day!)
Like most insects, Ladybugs go through 4 stages to grow:
First comes the egg. Out of the egg comes the larvae. The larvae develops into a pupa and at last there is a Ladybug.
Children were challenged to paint a Ladybug. Creativity is taking over. Theses bugs are quite amazing! - Ants and Butterflies are equally amazing insects. We're still learning about them!
Ty brought a live Ladybug to school. Friends had fun watching it move around in it's bag.
Thanks, Ty!
Thank you for bringing snacks this past week! The Strawberries Hinckley brought were a hit!
Looking ahead:Next week is The Week of the The Young Child! We want to celebrate your child's abilities & talents every day...Music, Food, Art & Family just to name a few.
The Washington Public Library will host an Art Show! On display is art created by our youngest in the community! You must go & see it!
In addition, the Library will host an interactive vocal & piano concert, targeted at preschoolers on Thursday, April19 at 10a.m.! Of course we want to take part in it!
Our plan is to walk to the library that day to look at art & take part in the concert.
We will leave St. James School at 9:10. Children will have the opportunity to look at their art and creations by other area preschoolers displayed at the library.
After viewing art, we'll listen to & help make beautiful noise.
Then we'll walk back to St.James, just in time to send tired (?) children home.
To make this Field Trip happen,
2-3 adult chaperons are welcome & needed to help with supervision etc. Would you able to accompany & walk with us to the library
on Thursday, April 19th ( 9-11a.m.)? Please, let me know!
Thank you!Plans for the next 2 weeks will be sent home soon!
Mrs. Mac & I are looking forward to more fun in learning with your child!
