Greetings from the Pastoral Council!
We hope this communication finds you dwelling in the peace of these past few weeks as we are nearing the end of Advent and beginning of the Christmas Season!
You may be using this time to reflect on the previous months of 2022 as well as anticipating what 2023 may have in store. As we look back, there are many things that have occurred in our Parish that provide a sense of great renewal, joy and hope:
·We continue to see a steady increase in Mass attendance
·Our apostolates and ministries have resumed their parish roles in increasing numbers
·Parish staff and volunteers generously give of time, treasure and talent which are the fuel for a vibrant parish
·There has been an increase in baptisms and marriages
·Our parish school is full
·There has been record attendance in the Adult Faith Formation programs, RCIA, as well as in our youth and sacramental preparation programs
·The amazing revitalization of the gift shop provides a broad selection of religious gift options for parishioners and visitors
·The courtyard enhancement project continues to provide a beautiful space to enjoy and gather
·Blessed Sacrament is in sound financial shape thanks to the continued generosity of our parishioners and visitors.
Just to name a few of the positive outcomes we are witnessing and enjoying.
As we think about 2023, we look forward to the many possibilities ahead. We remain steadfast in prayer that Fr. Bryan will flourish in his new role as Parochial Administrator at St. Thomas Aquinas. Although there will be a gap in time before we welcome a new Pastor, we passionately believe that the commitment of all of us - the Parishioners of Blessed Sacrament – will continue to propel us forward and provide a dynamic and thriving parish!
As your Pastoral Council, we will work with and support Fr. Williams to move current initiatives forward and continue to provide oversight and communication regarding future initiatives, parish events, outreach, and will certainly support a new Pastor as he transitions into his new role here at Blessed Sacrament.
As we prepare for Christmas, the Church reminds us of Jesus’ coming at the end of the world. While this might seem contrary to the season, let us remember that whether Christ comes in glory or as a poor child, the results are the same. The Second Coming and Christmas invite us to come closer to the Lord. Both urge us to approach the Lord without delay, even though events of the world distract us. We encourage you to continue to find ways to weed out the distractions and stay focused on the meaning of this beautiful time of year!
We look forward to keeping you updated. As always, we are here to serve, so please reach out with any comments or suggestions at pastoralcouncil@bscaz.org or reply directly to this email. On behalf of the entire Pastoral Council, we wish you a blessed Advent and Christmas!
John 3:16
