Dear Holy Trinity families,
Congratulations to all our students and teachers on a successful first quarter of the school year! I hope that you all have signed up through JMC to have a conference with your child’s teachers so that you can connect with them about the progress your child is making. Our teachers are professional and friendly and they desire to help you and your child succeed at Holy Trinity School. Come on down this Thursday afternoon to the school for conferences! It helps your students and it builds up our school community.
This Friday, November 11th, is Veterans Day. We will have a program with songs and poetry at 1:30 in the afternoon in honor of our nation’s veterans. All are welcome, especially our vets! If you are a veteran and you plan to attend, please call our office or send us an email so that we can reserve you an honored seat for our program!
Today is election day and this morning, our students, after having attended Holy Mass, stayed together in the Church, beholding our Lord in the Blessed Sacrament, and prayed a rosary for life: that all human life in this country would be treated with respect and protected, particularly those lives of the unborn. It was tremendous to hear so many children’s voices praying the rosary for their younger brothers and sisters in Christ.
Last but not least, I would like to extend a special congratulations to our student Aidan Cruz and the rest of the football team at Lester Prairie. They won their section championship game and are going to state! We wish him the best! If you would like to attend the game, it is at 5:30 this Friday afternoon at Jordan High School. You must buy the tickets online
here.
In Christ,
Kevin McCaffrey
Principal
PS. If you are interested in a free piano for your home, please email
Sue Mielke. We have two pianos at school which are not being used, one of which is in playable condition. The other would work fine as a piece of furniture! Please let us know right away if you are interested!
Classical Corner
There is a YouTube Channel from a major player in the classical education space which in my opinion is criminally underrated and under-viewed. Memoria Press has been a popular book publisher in classical circles for both traditional schools and homeschools. Their texts are really quite good, and I have used their Latin and Logic books successfully in my teaching. In addition to their good work in book publishing, their YouTube channel is just such a great repository of wisdom. They have all sorts of videos, some longer form podcasts, some tighter and more edited presentations. My favorite is their series called “Classics Unraveled,” which has covered film adaptations of Shakespeare and also aspects of Greek and Norse mythology. It is so good! I think my teachers would enjoy their discussion on how to create a classical classroom. Please check it out! Also, if you read this part of the newsletter, please send me an email to principal@htwinsted.org telling me your favorite title of Mary (Theotokos, Star of the Sea, Our Lady of Perpetual Help, etc!). I just want to gauge the readership!
