Hello Our Lady of the Snows and St. Agnes Parishioners! You may view the Sunday bulletin using the link at the bottom of this message.
A note from our Pastor:
Now just a week away from the Feast of Christ the King – the end of our Liturgical Year – we are given more warnings of the end times in our readings. The prophet Malachi reminds to steer clear of pride and to fear the Lord so that the ‘…sun of justice…’ will arise for us. Paul gives us a lesson in fulfilling our own responsibilities and not to go about ‘…minding the business of others.’ I much prefer the translation that says that some are not ‘…keeping busy but being busybodies.’
May we all ask the Lord to help us to be more concerned with our own business of living out our faith rather than being over concerned with others behavior. I think this is an especially timely prayer in the wake of the elections being over. I am writing this before the voting has taken place and urging myself & all of us to not define ourselves, our families, our friends, or our fellow community members by our political views alone.
As we continue through November may we prepare for Thanksgiving and the beginning of Advent by calling to mind God’s blessings in our lives. Whether they be family, friends, or some special event to look forward to or even just a beautiful blue-sky day –when we can recognize and appreciate the blessings in our lives, large & small, then we are able to identify with our neighbors. We can see that their difficulties and blessings are very similar to our own; that whatever our differences we have more in common than what separates us. When we can realize this truth and incorporate it into our lives, we can more easily see that loving our neighbor is the most practical thing in the world, if not always the easiest. When we love our neighbor with all their faults and foibles, we are loving those same faults in ourselves – we are making a statement about solidarity. We are all going through this life together. May we choose to help each other on the journey.
Peace & God Bless!
Father Rob
