Hello, Everyone!
It is quite interessting to learn about insects with this group!
Yes, we did find out about caterpillars & how they change into butterflies. There isn't a better way to introduce the life cycle of a butterfly than by reading the Eric Carle classic: The Very Hungry Caterpillar.
I contacted Insect Lore ( yes, there is a company that deals in bugs!) in regards to shipping Caterpillars to us. On Friday caterpillars were shipped our way. Since it was so cold this weekend I was a bit worried about the survival chances of these critters.
However...a little box arrived today & inside are 5 little caterpillars, very much alive! Yeah!. Our class of young scientists will be able to observe up close how butterflies develop!
There was little time to talk about crickets. And we have yet to read the story of the "Very Quiet Cricket".
Artful Ladybugs are parading upstairs at the Public Library! It'll be great fun to see them on Thursday.
Thank you, Megan Tryon, Deb Stanton, Anne Goebel, Amanda Adam, Benice Yudelmo & Jessica Janecek for walking along with us!
The plan is to leave St. James @ 9:00 to begin the walk to the Library.
We will walk back to school after the concert to be back in time for dismissal.
Please be sure to have your child wear comfy shoes to walk in & coat, (possibly hat & mittens, depending on weather/temperatures).
We celebrate
Family & Friends on Friday. You are invited to join us around 9 a.m. that day for a healthy snack & some reading and/ or play time after that. Let me know, if you are able to come. 4th grade will perform a play that day, too. Our group is invited to see it at 9:20 on Friday!
Looking ahead: Next week will find us learning about helping our Earth stay beautiful, recycling...It would be great to give these children the opportunity to get their hands on recycling! Please,
share some recyclables with us on Thursday & Friday! I will have a couple of empty boxes in the hallway. Plastic, metal, paper, glass...we will gratefully accept some of each - but
, please, make sure the recyclables you bring are clean. Thank you!Thank you so much for all the yummy snacks provided last week!
Mrs. Mac & I are looking forward to more fun in learning with your child!
