Los Posadas and its novena begin on Friday, December 16th and will end on Friday, Decmeber 23th.
All these Posadas will be in the Church @ 7:00pm.
Holy Cross will be kicking off the diocesan Simbang Gabi celebrations here at our parish on Thursday, December 15th. We will have Mass at 6pm with Bishop Barry Knestout as our celebrant. Following Mass we will share refreshments and fellowship. We anticipate a great number of Filipinos and the Catholic faithful to be part of this wonderful celebration. Please plan to join us! The Office of Asian Ministry will be publishing a calendar in the Office of Ethnic Ministries newsletter and in the Catholic Virginian with the dates, times, and locations of all the Simbang Gabi masses throughout the diocese very soon.

40-Hours Devotion!
Dec 1st at 7 pm – Dec 3rd at 4pm
Come join us for 40 hours of continuous adoration to welcome this Advent season, combat evil in our country and world, celebrate the Eucharist, and seek spiritual growth for ourselves and our community.
What is the 40-Hours Devotion?
The 40 Hours Devotion was established in 16th century Europe during times of great tribulation in the Church and world. It consists of 40 hours of Eucharistic adoration with a combination of personal and private prayer. The devotion was made popular in the United States by St. John Henry Newman in the 19thcentury.
A Note on Security:
The church will remain locked outside normal business hours (9am – 4 pm). A volunteer will be stationed at the side door to allow entrance and provide security at other times.

Interfaith Outreach's Downtown Lynchburg Historic Church Open House
Saturday, December 10 from 10:00am -1:00pm
This year’s event is FREE and open to the public. Donations by concertgoers to Interfaith Outreach Association will be appreciated.
The following is the concert schedule for the seven historic congregations that will be open for a 15-minute holiday concert performance:

Social Ministries
The Ladies of Charity circles wish to thank all the wonderful people who baked for the recent bake sale and those who purchased yummy baked goods. Thank you to Pat Rony for the prize carrot cake that Lynn Barber won in the raffle!
We raised $1585.00 to be used for the Holy Cross food pantry, the J.O.Y. fund at Holy Cross to help those in need and the Blue Ridge Pregnancy Center. The three circles also received some funds for other projects. We couldn't help so many people without the prayers and support of the entire Holy Cross Community. May God continue to bless all of you.

Holy Cross Jesse Tree Ministry
The Jesse Tree Ministry helps brighten the holidays for local families, children and seniors in need, by providing Thanksgiving food baskets, Christmas food baskets, gifts, and even stockings for the younger children. Many of the families assisted are from our parish community. Others are referred to us by Interfaith Outreach Association, Lynchburg Social Services, McGurk House and Miriam’s House.

We are the only emergency overnight shelter in Lynchburg and the surrounding counties.
The Red Kettle campaign is a significant part or the local army’s budget and over 95% of the collected dollars stay right here in Lynchburg!

St Paschal's Food Pantry
Thank you to our very generous Holy Cross church family for helping St Paschal's Food Pantry feed about 40 families this season.
Thanks to James River Day School's generosity, we have tons of beans, soups, and veggies. They shared a portion of their over 11,000 servings of non-perishable food collected through their "Thankful Hearts Food Drive."

2021 Jesse Tree Ministry
Elves Delivered! This past week Jesse Tree gifts, food, and even stockings for the younger children, were distributed to 77 households in our area. Families came from our parish community, as well as those referred to us by Interfaith Outreach Association, Lynchburg Social Services, Miriam’s House and McGurk House.
Thanks: Many thanks to all those who made the 2021 Jesse Tree Ministry a success!
We will resume distributing the monthly bags in the Commons the first weekend in February.
