Reap the Most Tax Benefit While Supporting St. Edward the Confessor
Maximize your giving dollars before the ball drops on New Year’s Eve by using funds in your retirement account to support St. Edward the Confessor. The IRA Charitable Rollover allows donors who are 70.5 years or older to transfer up to $100,000 from a traditional or Roth IRA to a qualified charity like The Catholic Foundation. In doing so, donors keep their IRA distribution from impacting their gross income and possibly avoid being bumped into a higher tax bracket. The IRA charitable rollover can also count toward your required minimum distribution (RMD), which starts at age 72.
All transfers must be made directly from an IRA custodian to The Catholic Foundation by December 15th to qualify as a 2022 rollover and be excluded from the donor’s taxable income. A Note from Santa’s Attic
To our wonderful St. Edward parishioners, thank you for the great help and support. The sale was the best we have had, over $13,500. This could not have happened without the endless hours of unpacking, sorting, and pricing totes of endless Christmas donations. To all those elves that helped to set up and tear down - thank you. It was one very busy week, but your help made the end result worth it.
Collection dates for 2023 Santa’s Attic Sale
Before you settle down for a long winter’s nap, please remember our collection for next year’s sale is Saturday Jan. 14, from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Sunday Jan. 15, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. We will need lots and lots of help, sorting and packing donations.
A CORPORAL WORK OF MERCY ~ FEED THE HUNGRY
The St. Vincent de Paul Haven, a homeless shelter for men, has announced an expansion of their facility to house up to 50 residents; thus doubling their capacity beginning in late November/December.
There are currently 2 teams of St. Edward parishioners who provide meals. We want to have 3 teams so you would cook only once per quarter for the residents. We are in need of more volunteers to have 8 to 10 people to have on a team. Each volunteer would prepare just part of the meal in your home on the first Tuesday of the month. The shelter often has frozen food which can be picked up for us to use, or you can purchase a side dish (fruit/cheese tray, dessert etc.) The food is delivered to the Haven at 115 W. Wilson Street, Newark around 4:30pm.

WINTER DONATIONS NEEDED
Hello everyone,
St. Edward's youth group is collecting donations for a Street Homeless Outreach. We are asking the parish to help. Please drop off donations in the box in the Gathering Space. Below are the donations needed. Clothing for Adult Men & Women - socks & underwear (New in package),Sweatshirts, pants, sweaters, jackets, coats, gloves, scarves, T-shirts, and shoes. Socks and underwear. Toiletries – travel size shampoo, conditioner, shaving cream, razors, toothpaste, toothbrushes and female hygiene products. Food - granola bars, bottled water, juice boxes, chips, cookies, and other snacks. We will also take warm food during the year - coffee, hot chocolate, sandwiches, and hot dogs.
