Friends in the Lord
Greetings of Peace
The New Liturgical Year begins with the Season of Advent, commencing on November 27th and ending on December 24th. One of the main purposes of this Season is to prepare ourselves to celebrate the Birth of the Savior, Jesus Christ. It is also the season of anticipation and hope of the return of Christ the King in His Second coming. It is celebrating a truth about God, the revelation of God in Christ. It is a time then for our faith communities and families to remember this through prayer, reflections, and good deeds. This season invites us to step away from what can be a time of shopping and parties to consider how we could prepare ourselves spiritually to receive Jesus into our hearts and homes. The Readings for this season will focus on our accountability for our faithfulness till He comes.
Advent symbolizes the spiritual journey of every one of us as we believe the Lord abides in us and dwells among us. With the spirit of expectation, preparation and of longing, let’s once again rethink about basic attitudes, refine our goals, confront our selfishness, and renew our commitment to the Lord who is going to enter our life history.
Like the previous years, this year too, we will have the Advent Mission preached by Rev. Stephen Hayes OP. He will be preaching at all the Weekend Masses of Nov. 26th and 27th to help us prepare ourselves. The Mission will be from Nov 28th through 30th at 7:30 pm. I invite all the Parishioners to take advantage of this beautiful occasion to be ready to receive the Savior into our hearts.
Fr. Alphonse Arokiam
