Starting This Weekend! Sung Entrance Antiphons
Beginning with the 1st Sunday of Advent, continuing through Christmas, we will be singing the appointed Entrance Antiphon for each Sunday. The Entrance Antiphon is typically a chant sung during the entrance procession of the Mass.
"The General Instruction of the Roman Missal (GIRM) states beautifully the reason for this chant, "The purpose of this chant is to open the celebration, foster the unity of those who have been gathered, introduce their thoughts to the mystery of the liturgical season or festivity, and accompany the procession of the priest and ministers." (¶47) This is the time when we come together as a community and profess the faith that we share as Catholics. We begin by lifting our minds to Christ, examining ourselves, and asking for forgiveness." - From St. Andrew Parish in Sumner, WA.
