Personal Encounters with the Lord: Meet Him!
No one who approaches their creator leaves unchanged. You will be hearing much in the coming weeks and months about “Encountering the Lord.” This is part of the 3-year Eucharistic Revival in which our Bishops have asked us to participate. After prayerful reflection, discernment, and discussion, our Parish Pastoral Council here at St. Patrick Parish made some plans to encourage us to realize this encounter. Soon you will be seeing articles in the bulletin and videos on our Social Media pages by different members of the parish talking about and sharing their “Encounter with the Lord.”
Beginning this weekend
We want to encourage everyone to realize that this “Encounter with the Lord” occurs at every single Mass when we receive Him in the Holy Eucharist. To foster awareness of that encounter, we will begin taking a short time of silence after we receive Holy Communion – to give us just a moment to realize the personal encounter we have each just had with the Lord by receiving Him in the Eucharist. This time of silence will begin this weekend.
ADVENT WEEK 1 (November 27)
The first week of this Advent reminds us of the coming of Jesus Christ the Redeemer. The first week marked with a purple candle has the meaning of HOPE. We all look forward to Christ’s coming full of joy and hope.
The first candle this week is called the Candle of the Prophet who reminds us that the coming of Jesus as Messiah has been preached by the prophets.
And again, Isaiah says,
“The Root of Jesse will spring up,
one who will arise to rule over the nations;
in him the Gentiles will hope.”
(Isaiah 11:10)
