Dear Parishioners,
On this Sunday, we will celebrate the First Sunday of Advent which will also begin our new liturgical year.
After a tumultuous year, there is comfort to be found when we pause to read, pray, and reflect over the course of the Advent season in which believers eagerly anticipate the celebration of Christ’s birth.
The scripture reminds us to actively wait for the coming of the Lord as king at the end-time. Henri Nouwen once said, “In our personal lives, waiting is not a very popular pastime. Waiting is not something we anticipate or experience with great joy and gladness! Most of us consider waiting a waste of time. Advent reminds us to be patient as we wait on the Lord.
On this first Sunday of Advent, the readings give us the opportunity to center our thoughts on hope. It's a beautiful chance to remember the hope God offers to our lost and dying world, and that He's given us through Jesus.
As we prepare our hearts to celebrate Jesus’ arrival as a gift to all humanity; let’s stir up in our hearts and homes a sense of anticipation.
I hope and pray that you will have a grace-filled time of Advent,
Sincerely Yours in Christ,
Fr. Stefan Megyery
