Hello Boiler Catholics!
As we start this new church year, I want to share two ways that we can give back to the parish... Please consider attending one of these (or other opportunities) at St. Tom's and wear your Boiler Catholics shirts to support/celebrate our community!
(Shirts are available for $5 in the Boiler Catholics office downstairs at St. Tom's by Newman Hall).
A PRAYERFUL/SPIRITUAL OPPORTUNITY MONDAY 11/28 (TODAY):
Advent started yesterday, and if you went to any of the Masses, you met Sr. Irenaeus,OP and Sr. Maria Fatima, OP who will be offering a short evening of reflection, complete with a soup supper, tonight from 5:30 Mass through 8:30pm. If you want to start the new year with a strengthened spiritual life, come on out! If you don't want to come for the supper, the talk will start at 6:30pm in Newman Hall (downstairs at St. Tom's). Everyone is welcome, but we ask that you notify us, online by email (communications@boilercatholics.org), or by phone (765) 743-4652 so we know how much food to prepare.
AN ACTIVE/SERVICE OPPORTUNITY:
Be an "elf" (behind the scenes or publicly)! Student parishioner help is critically needed! St. Tom's is hosting Jubilee Christmas, a community outreach for families who have lower economic resources, on Saturday, December 10. As someone who benefited from this type of program as a child, I REALLY encourage you to step up... it makes such a big difference for these families. There are many, many ways to volunteer to help us be successful in this outreach opportunity:
Ways to help out:
You can sign up for any of these roles by visiting www.boilercatholics.org and clicking on the banner at the top of the front page. Thanks for helping out as best you can. • Assist with set up on Monday, Dec. 5, to Friday, Dec. 9. Stay tuned for signups once the schedule is determined.
• Serve as a runner or host for Jubilee Christmas (Friday, Dec. 9, and/or Saturday, Dec. 10). The online sign-up form is coming soon.
• Provide a monetary donation by check or cash at the Church Office or online through Faith Direct.
• Shop now and provide new toys for all ages! Bring your donations to St. Tom’s by December 5.
• Shop for family gifts! As a supplement to gifts already brought in, each family has been contacted to determine their specific needs that will be listed on tags hanging from a Christmas tree in the Church starting Saturday, Nov. 26. Select a tag from the tree and register it online with your contact information. Then fulfill the gift request and bring the item(s) to the Church.
