Pets and Vets
This week we started our Theme: Pets. This has been another huge hit! Here are a few things that we have been doing this week.
Pretend: Vet Clinic with a variety of pets, exam table, Doctors kits, and X-Rays of different animals.
Sensory Table: Dog Food bowls with multi colored dog bones. Students can sort out the colors into the bowls. Mittens and Gloves with kittens and puppies on them. Giving more opportunity to put them on independently. Dog collars and leashes to work those muscles in the hands as they clip them together.
Reading Corner: Pet books and an animal number felt board activity to put in number order.
Writing Center: RX forms for the Vet and animal coloring pages
Block Center: Small blocks, Beanie Babies, barn and the house to play with.
A few more highlights from the week!

- Coloring! They are doing so great with this!!
- Taking care of our space---pushing in our chairs, picking up after ourselves
- Getting our own coats and mittens on
It has been a GREAT week! We are SO THANKFUL for all of our families! We have had some sickness, which if quite normal. THANK you for keeping your child home when they are under the weather. We try our very best to continually wash tables, toys and any surface that students touch. The one thing that is more challenging to control would be a sick child sneezing or coughing on another person. We understand it makes it challenging for you, especially if both parents are working, to stay home with your child. So far, you've been fantastic!
Struggle Bus---During this upcoming week we are revisiting some of our rules and expectations. One would think that after these are established, kids would remember. Nope! LOL They all need reminders. So, this week is our practice week for the following routines:
- Center Time - This coming week teachers will chooses their center group that they go to, when it is time to clean up and who is in the center. Many have forgotten how to pick up before they go to a new place and how to play calmly in their area. So, we will practice!
- Eating Lunch- This coming week students will be assigned a spot at a table and who they are sitting with. Many students forgot that it is time to eat during lunch and not play. So, we will practice!
They know this is not a punishment, it's just part of learning the rules at school. You can do this at home, too! If you notice your child is not following one of your families rules, instead of a "punishment or yelling" (which I have to remind myself of at times as well at home, too) just simply say, "Awe, man! Looks like we will need to practice putting our toys away." or how to get ready for bed, or how to be kind to your sister. Then model what that looks like and stay with them the entire time that they "practice" so they can show you how it's done. Reflecting on what they might need more guidance on and what behavior deserves a consequence is helpful. It's al about balance and love.
Have a SUPER WEEKEND!!!
