A Holy Day of Obligation
This wonderful Solemnity honoring Mary, the patroness of the United States, is this Thursday, December 8.
Abiding by our tradition, Christ the King will offer four Masses.
Tomorrow, Wednesday, December 7, we will have a Vigil Mass at 5:30 pm (since we have that 5:30 pm Mass each weekday during Advent).
On Thursday, December 8, Masses will be offered at 7:00 am, 12:00 noon, and 6:00 pm (please note that this is the only time in Advent we will offer a 6:00 pm Mass rather than 5:30 pm...to enable more to come after work.)
When God created the first Adam, He made preparations beforehand. He created a beautiful world, a Paradise ready for Adam to dwell in. That Paradise was lost through the original sin of Adam and Eve, the sin of pride.
When God brought forth the Second Adam, our Lord Jesus Christ, He made preparations beforehand as well. He created a still more beautiful Paradise for the New Adam and that Paradise was the body and soul of Our Lady, Mary Immaculate, a place for the New Adam to dwell.
The second Paradise, the Blessed Virgin Mary, was immune from the taint of sin to be able to receive the New Adam. We honor Mary’s immaculate conception in this feast.
