Third Sunday of Advent
Dear Students and Parishioners,
We are sending out our Flocknote early this week, just to remind everyone that Mass for the Solemnity of the Immaculate Conception will be at 5:15 PM today with Adoration and Confessions at 4:00 PM, as usual. Tomorrow (December 9th), we will be having our Advent Morning of Reflection, focused on the theme of listening to God in our lives and in our modern times. For the Feast of Our Lady of Guadalupe on Monday December 12th, there will be a Rosary at 6:15 PM, followed by a children’s chorus, and then Mass at 7:00 PM (all in Spanish—there will be no other Mass on the 12th). I look forward to seeing you all in these days ahead!

Advent Morning of Reflection: How to Hear God
Friday, December 9th
10:30 AM – 12:00 PM (Parish Hall)
As human beings, we struggle with hearing God and—even more—with listening to Him. Yet, the ability of Saint Joseph to do both was a crucial part of “how the birth of Jesus Christ came about,” to use the words of Matthew’s Gospel. With contributions from our Capuchin Novices and Deacon Henri Djojo of Old Mission Santa Barbara, our morning will center on how to recognize the voice of God in our modern times.
Besides the talk and prayer, there will be time for the Sacrament of Reconciliation as well as fellowship over coffee and pastries in the parish hall.

Garden of healing for victim-survivors of sexual abuse
Archbishop José H. Gomez recently blessed the inaugural garden of healing dedicated to victim-survivors of sexual abuse at Saint Camillus Center for Spiritual Care in Los Angeles. Gardens of healing, which are being planned in the five pastoral regions of the Archdiocese of Los Angeles, are a manifestation of our ongoing care for and support of those impacted by sexual abuse in all its forms. The Archdiocese encourages anyone with information regarding sexual abuse to please make a report to law enforcement and/or the Office of Victims Assistance Ministry at (800) 355-2545 or protect@la-archdiocese.org.
