WOW, what a fun week! The Christmas Concert was so good and everyone did a great job! Our rehearsal went well and the performance was excellent!
We started our week off talking about what we know about Christmas. Then we read the book What is Christmas? The book asked questions like: Is Christmas about getting presents? Is Christmas about candy canes?, Is Christmas about family?, Is Christmas about Jesus? Everyone gave their answer to each question. At the end of the book it told us the story of Jesus’ birth and the reason we celebrate. Christmas is about all of those things BUT it’s because they are ways to celebrate the birth of Jesus!
The other book we read this week was The Story of Christmas. We reviewed the book What is Christmas before we read this book to remind ourselves about the reason we celebrate Christmas. The Story of Christmas is a simple book about the nativity story. At the end when we talked about the book we focused on the birth of baby Jesus. We celebrate it with gifts and spending time with the people we love. According to Jack, since we are celebrating Jesus’ birth we should have a birthday cake on Christmas! Everyone agreed, so next week we are going to have a birthday celebration for Jesus! We are going to surprise the class with this so they don’t know about it yet!
Ms. Jo came this week and read a good book to us. She also sang songs and got us up and moving. She always brings us super fun things to do!
We worked on a secret project for our families this week. They were sent home yesterday in backpacks. They are in the brown paper bags.
On Wednesday we rode the big yellow bus to the Community Center to practice for the Christmas Concert. When we arrived back at the school we had a snack and relaxed while we watched a Christmas movie.
Next week will be busy as well! It is a short week with NO school on Thursday, December 22nd. We will be working on finishing our Green Books, celebrating Jesus’ birthday and having our Christmas Party!
Christmas Party: Wednesday, December 21st @ 10 a.m. - 10:55 a.m. We will have a snack and play some games.
