Christmas Mass Schedule
Christmas Eve: 5p
Christmas Day: 8.30a 10.30a 12noon (Spanish)
Dear Parish Family,
Permit me to share with you what Father Walsh, the first pastor of our parish, wrote in the St. Thomas Apostle Christmas bulletin in 1928:
"When the stress of the burden of the past weeks, and the bustle and the anxiety of the exterior preparations are over, there is need of an interior preparation, when alone before the representation of the Infant Savior, men may pause and think. The world around us presents a spectacle of those engaged in a breathless struggle for money, power or pleasure. In the Manger of Bethlehem, there is an antidote for all the distress and all the unrest which is eating out the heart of of even good Christians. Those Infant eyes shine, but not with the restless greed of the world and it's fleeting treasures. Those tiny hands, outstretched from the lowly bed of straw, are not seeking to embrace the riches of the world. Those eyes reflect great love and those hands are outstretched to receive you..."
Father Walsh's message is still as relevant as it was 95 years ago.
Thank you so much for your generosity at Christmas and the whole year through. As the staff from Martha’s Table came to take what amounted to a van load of gifts for disadvantaged children, it was a great opportunity to reflect on the goodness and generosity of so many parishioners. Like the Magi of old and the shepherds who came to bring their gifts to the Christ Child so too did those who gave toys to those who are Christ to us- the poor and the marginalized.
I am likewise grateful to all who through their volunteer roles and those who offer continued and often sacrificial gifts allow the parish to keep growing and thriving. May every gift you give come back to you a hundred-fold in this life and in the life to come
The Oratorians join me in wishing you every blessing for a happy Christmas and a 2023 filled with good health and many blessings.
Your servant in Christ,
Father Richard
