Happy New Year to all our St. Lawrence Community. It is a time to renew our lives and hopefully look at how we can grow in faith and love in Jesus Christ.
We honor Mary, as Mother of God, on this first day of the New Year as we celebrate this Christmas season. Our Christmas season will end on Monday, January 9th with the celebration of the Baptism of the Lord. January 8th we celebrate the Epiphany, the coming of the Three Kings who to give praise, honor, and glory to the Child Jesus, the Son of God. This great act of faith helps us to also come and give praise to our God in our celebration of the Eucharist...

En este primer día del Año que inicia, y en el que seguimos celebrando la Navidad, Honramos a María, como Madre de Dios. Este periodo Navideño terminará el lunes 9 de enero con la celebración del Bautismo del Señor. El 8 de enero celebramos la Epifanía, la venida de los Reyes Magos que dan alabanza, honra y gloria al Niño Jesús, el Hijo de Dios. Este gran acto de fe nos ayuda también a nosotros para venir y alabar a nuestro Dios en nuestra celebración de la Eucaristía...

Gracias, San Lorenzo: De gratitud y despedida
Before my friend left, he turned around with a smirk on his face and said: “In a little while, you will no longer see me…”
And I immediately added: “…Again, in a little while, I will see you.”
We both laughed heartily, because we realized we were playing on Jesus’ words from the gospel when he was saying his goodbyes to his disciples, and said, “In a little while, you will no longer see me; again in a little while, you will see me.” (John 16:16) This joking exchange between my friend and I, using the words of Jesus, after we had a beautiful meal together captures what I wish to say to the St. Lawrence Parish and School Community.

Firstly, saying THANK YOU SO VERY MUCH does not really capture the depth of gratitude I seek to express, but it surely provides an entry point into my appreciation for all of you, especially my little “Hi-5 Friends.” However, beyond my gratitude, I want to also say I am not disappearing from the family here at St. Lawrence, but I am going away to serve and encounter other communities. And like Jesus said, “Again, in a little while, I will see you”, in and around our beautiful Diocese.
Thank you for all your love and support, thank you for your prayers as we continue to pray for one another this New Year. May God who has brought us through into 2023, hold our hands and walk with us now and always – AMEN.

Antes de que mi amigo se fuera, se dio la vuelta con una sonrisa en su rostro y dijo:
“Dentro de poco tiempo ya no me verás…”
Y de inmediato agregué: “… pero en un poco tiempo más te volveré a ver”.
Ambos nos reímos mucho, porque nos dimos cuenta de que estábamos jugando con las palabras del Evangelio de Jesús cuando se despidió de sus discípulos y dijo: “Dentro de poco tiempo ya no me verán; pero en un poco tiempo más me volverán a ver”. (Juan 16:16) Este intercambio de bromas entre mi amigo y yo, usando las palabras de Jesús, después de que comimos juntos, captura lo que deseo decirle a la comunidad escolar y parroquial de San Lorenzo.
En primer lugar, el decir: ¡MUCHAS GRACIAS! en realidad no capta la profundidad del agradecimiento que busco expresar, pero sin duda proporciona un punto de entrada a mi aprecio por todos ustedes, especialmente por mis pequeños "Hi-5 Friends". Sin embargo, más allá de mi gratitud, también quiero decir que no voy a desaparecer de la familia aquí en San Lorenzo, sino que me iré para servir y encontrarme con otras comunidades. Y como dijo Jesús: “Otra vez, dentro de poco, los veré”, en y alrededor de nuestra hermosa Diócesis.
Gracias por todo su amor y apoyo, gracias por sus oraciones, al tiempo que continuamos orando unos por otros este Año Nuevo. Que Dios, que nos ha traído hasta el 2023, nos tome de la mano y camine con nosotros ahora y siempre. AMEN.
