Dear Parishioners,
B16 Says Farewell
In the video above, we see Pope Benedict XVI saying farewell just before his retirement. A crowd of 200,000 appeared for his last general audience nearly 10 years ago.
B16 Memorial Mass
At 2 PM today, January 13th, we will have a memorial Mass for Pope Benedict XVI. It will be like a funeral Mass but with no casket. Today is the last day of the nine days of mourning.
Following the Mass, we will have exposition of the Blessed Sacrament until 4 PM.
Msgr. Rusconi and Fr. Andrew will join me in hearing confessions. I'll be in the confessional. The second location will be the sacristy. I want to change the third location from the music room to either the church hall kitchen or somewhere else in the church hall. We'll have someone directing penitents.
B16 eagerly sought to help connect people with Jesus Christ. Today is a great opportunity for us to pray for B16, to seek consolation for our own grief, and to grow closer to Christ.
The office will likely close by 1:45 PM so that everyone can attend the memorial Mass.
MLK on Monday
The office will be closed on Monday since MLK Day is a national holiday. The church will remain open as usual with Mass at 8 AM and confessions from 2-4 PM and 6-7 PM.
Intercessions
Let's continue to pray for others. Here are a few intercessions to get us started.
1) For the repose of the soul of Pope Benedict XVI.
2) For the repose of the soul of Cardinal George Pell.
3) For healing, perseverance, and courage for those in hospitals.
4) For a greater understanding and respect for the truth about human nature.
5) For greater support for our St. Vincent de Paul Society.
God love you,
Fr. Jim
