Hello everyone!

Because MPS students do not have school this Monday, we will not have YM on Sunday. BUT we DO have our MLK Day service project that all middle schoolers are invited to attend! Read on for all the details!

MLK Day of Service

This year, in honor of MLK Day, we invite all middle schoolers to join us as we prepare and serve a meal for the residents at the Open Door in Midland! We will be serving on Sunday, January 15 from 4:00 to 6:30 PM. Please fill out the online registration form by clicking the link if your child would like to attend. Please plan on dropping your child off at the Open Door a little bit before 4:00, so we can all be gathered and ready to start serving at 4:00. :)

Family Game Night + Euchre Tournament

We're having a game night on January 20! Bring your family to play board games and bingo! We'll provide the sloppy joes! At 7:00 PM, we'll start the Euchre tournament. Sign you and your partner up today! :)

We will be having a parish talent show on February 6... but we can't do it without talented people like you! Music, singing, magic, dance, martial arts, poetry, famous speeches, skits... whatever your talent is, we want to see it! Sign up by clicking on the link below!

Box Full of Love Event

Is there a young adult or college student or two (or three) that you would like to send a little LOVE to this Valentine’s Day? If so, please join us on Thursday, February 7 at 7:00 for our yearly “Box Full of Love” event.

Here is how it works: Blessed Sacrament will buy a shoe box sized mailing box and a Valentine’s Day card for each recipient. Then each participant brings an item for 10 boxes: 10 cookies OR 10 candy bars OR 10 fruit snacks OR 10 mini muffins OR 10 little toys. If you need to make more than one box then please bring 10 items for each. Our kids will end up with items from 10 different families who love them and are praying for them!

Treasure Box Activity

If you're following along with the short activities that your family can do together with the items from the scavenger hunt, here's the next activity:

The Saints: People have lots of misunderstandings about what Catholics believe about the saints. We DO NOT worship the saints nor do we believe that they have magic powers. What we do believe is that the saints are role models for our lives. Many were heroic, but most of them were regular people just like us who grew in holiness by praying and following God’s plan for their lives. They were not perfect because only God is perfect. We do believe that we can ask the saints to pray for us just like we would ask a friend here on earth to pray for us. Americancatholic.org has the saint for each day. As a family look up the saint of the day for a week. By learning a little about their lives you might find a new role model of faith. Or pick a particular saint for your family and ask that saint to pray for you. Also, you can place your saint card in in the corner of a picture frame or by the Bible in your home to remind you that as Catholics we believe that we are all connected together as a family of faith.
