January 9-12
No School on Monday, January 16th!
We completed our coffee filter snowflakes. After they colored them with markers we sprayed them with water to blend the colors. Once they dried we folded them and then the students cut shapes out of them and then unfolded them to see the designs they made. They look so good hanging from our ceiling!
This week everyone played matching games with Ms. Alayna. They were snowflakes and mittens.
Another blue book page was completed. Painting mittens blue with paint sticks.
We have been talking about snowflakes! In the past we have had fresh snow outside that we can bring inside to investigate but this year we haven’t had much so we have been reading a lot of books about snow and snowflakes. This week we focused on the shapes of snowflakes and how they are all different.
We have been working on name recognition and placing the letters of their names in the correct order. Recognizing their name in print provides them in dependence when finding their name tabs and other items without assistance. It also helps build their confidence when learning their own name as well as recognizing their friends' names.
Another fun thing we have been working on is zipping our own coats. It can be very challenging especially with heavy winter coats. We ask everyone to try on their own before asking for help. We have seen a lot of improvement along the way.
Next week will be a fun week with more snowflake activities, Ms. Jo from the Washington Public Library will be here and we get our 2nd fluoride treatment from Washington County Public Health.
