In this video essay by Dr. Kevin McCauley, who is himself in recovery, he explores the important question: Is addiction really a disease? Filmed in high-definition, Dr. McCauley explores the arguments for and against this vital debate, reviewing the latest neuroscientific research about addiction along the way. Using the spectacular landscape of Utah’s State and National Parks to describe the brain areas involved in addiction, Dr. McCauley turns complex neuroscientific concepts into easy-to-understand visual images that will help people in recovery feel better understood, and their families and friends feel hope that recovery is possible.

Jason and Lori Lacoste will give the testimony for our Wine and Wisdom evening.
They have been married for 16 years and have two beautiful daughters, Allie (14) and Leah (12). Jason and Lori are active parishioners of St. Charles Borromeo Parish in Destrehan, LA. Jason and Lori are on the leadership team for the SCB Marriage Enrichment Ministry, second grade religious education catechists, have served on ACTS retreats, and are a speaker couple for Willwoods Community. One of their missions in life is to bring married couples closer to God and each other by sharing their testimony.
8th ANNUAL PARISH FAMILY ST. JOSEPH'S ALTAR
Our St. Joseph altar is an offering of love, labor, and sacrifice. It is lovingly prepared honoring St. Joseph, the earthly father of Jesus and husband to Mary.
We are expecting approximately 2,800-3,000 visitors to our altar this year and, for the first time, we will have extra Italian cookies available for donations; therefore, our Cookie Committee is planning to make over 30,000 cookies. Cookie Making and other activities have already begun - please pick up a Schedule of Events (copies are located in the church hallways), and join us on those scheduled dates/times, which are also shown on the calendar in each weekly parish bulletin. Even if your schedule allows you only a little time, your help is still greatly appreciated.

The custom of St. Joseph Altars was originated in Sicily many centuries ago and was brought to New Orleans by Sicilian immigrants. During a period of severe drought and famine the people turned to St. Joseph asking for his intercession. When their prayers were answered, they made offerings to St. Joseph of their most prized possessions – food.
