Music has always been a way to communicate love. Mothers sing lullabies to their infants, lovers have their special song, and a father dances to music with his daughter at her wedding.
How much more, then, does music communicate the Love of all loves in and through the Church.
The thing about music is that although it is personal, it is communal. In the Mass, Christ reaches out to each individual on a personal basis. At the same time, we unanimously and corporately respond as the universal Church in prayer and song.
For the One who loved so deeply that He gave His life…
For the One who continues to love us unconditionally, in spite of our flaws…
For the One who rejoices over us with a never ending song of freedom…
How can we not sing?
