Happy and Holy 3rd Sunday in Ordinary Time! We continue to give thanks to God for the gift of rain and the blessing of the earth!
Just a quick reminder, next Sunday, January 29th we begin our Catholic Schools Week celebrations. St. Lawrence the Martyr has a long and wonderful history of supporting the local community in sharing the gift of Catholic education. I would like to invite the whole community to come and see the benefits and blessings of Catholic Schools and enjoy the breakfast/brunch the school is sponsoring in support of our Fifth Grade students’ Science Camp week.
“I urge you, brothers and sisters, in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, that all of you agree in what you say, and that there be no divisions among you, but that you be united in the same mind and in the same purpose.”
(1 Cor 1:10)
This is the opening sentence to our second reading this weekend. St. Paul places before us an almost impossible task of agreement and unity in purpose as a community. We all know that even within the family this is so very hard to do. So how are we called to be in “agreement” and live in “unity”? We are reminded, agreement doesn’t mean sameness and unity doesn’t mean we cannot differ on ideas but rather we are in agreement and unity on the singularity of purpose in bringing the presence of God into our lives and the life of the community...
