For this reason on 2/8/23 at 6:00 p.m. (PST), Prolife is hosting this webinar rosary prayer to invoke the aid of St. Josephine Bakhita in bringing awareness of the evil of Human Trafficking and interceding for the victims and survivors of human trafficking.
Guest speaker Susan Patterson, Director of Through God's Grace Ministry, will give us a quick summary of what the Church can do to address human trafficking and will join us in prayer.

The Chinese ministry of the Archdiocese will hold the Chinese New Year Eucharistic Celebration and Ancestor Veneration Ceremony at 2:30 pm on Saturday, January 28 at St. Mary of the Assumption Cathedral. Most Rev. Salvatore J. Cordileone, Archbishop of San Francisco, will preside over the liturgy. Fr. Peter Zhai, SVD, extends the invitation to all priests in the Archdiocese to join the celebration. You and your choirs are invited to be part of this event where hundreds of students in grades 4-12 from various Catholic Schools and churches across Northern California will unite for a day of musical excellence; spiritual and personal growth; academic and cultural enrichment; and community, inclusion, and friendship. Archbishop Salvatore Cordileone is a big supporter of Pueri Cantores and will celebrate the Festival Mass.
On the day of the Festival, the combined choir of hundreds of students is led by a nationally recognized Catholic conductor/educator who engages and inspires the gathered choristers, bringing the sacred music to life. The Festival day lasts 7 hours with ample rehearsal time, lunch/snack breaks, opportunities for children to interact with their peers, and the day culminates with the Festival Mass, where the trained combined choir shares their beautiful young voices to enhance the liturgy. Open to singers of all skill levels, this workshop series is designed to help you read, hear, and sing Gregorian chant using the musical tools of solfège (Do, Re, Mi, etc.) and the modes (8 “scales” in which Gregorian chant appears).
Join Dr. Jennifer Donelson-Nowicka, the new director of sacred music at St. Patrick’s Seminary, for this inaugural online workshop series of the Catholic Institute of Sacred Music at St. Patrick’s Seminary. The series consists of ten (10) 45-minute lessons with exercises for reading, audiation (hearing the music in your mind), and teaching (teaching yourself or others!) based on the 8 Gregorian modes. Course sessions are detailed in the registration link above and will also touch on the Psalm tones and performance analysis of sample chants. The workshop is $35; add archived access to the sessions for an additional $15. Registration is on a rolling basis, but please be mindful that signing up after the first class or less than an hour before a class will mean that you’ll miss the live event; no pro-rated registration fee is possible.

The annual Walk for Peace & Memorial Vigil Mass will be hosted this year by St. Mark Church in Belmont. This event, organized by the Restorative Justice Ministry, is an opportunity to pray for those who have died due to violence in the past year. The walk will begin at 3:00 p.m. and will be moved inside in the event of rainy weather. The memorial Mass will follow at 4:30 p.m. Volunteers are also needed to carry crosses bearing the names of those who have been lost to violence. Join us in praying for an end to violence in the Bay Area and around the world.

This annual project is a way to share the message of Easter with the men and women in the jails. The cards will be accompanied by goody bags with snacks. Catholic Charities Seeks Donation of Sacred Texts for St. Vincent’s School for Boys

Catholic Charities operates St. Vincent’s School for Boys, a program in San Rafael to house and provide compassionate, trauma-informed care to boys ages 6-17 to help foster healing and ultimately, reunification with their families and/or sponsors.
As part of this effort, we want to ensure the children have access to familiar sacred texts from a variety of religions. We are accepting donations of new or gently used sacred texts in hard-copy form in a variety of translations including Spanish, English, Hebrew, Pashto, Persian (Farsi), Ukrainian, Russian, French, Vietnamese, Chinese, Polish, Portuguese, Tagalog, and other languages. We also welcome donations of rosaries, crosses, prayers beads, holy image cards, and other sacred objects.
