Pastor's Weekly Update January 13, 2023
Dear St. Agnes family,
When the Pastoral Council met last week, we discussed the need for a Ministry Fair at St. Agnes. As we continue to emerge from the pandemic, it’s time to reassess our work and the needs of our parish community and neighborhood. Many people have asked when we would be having such an event.
We’re planning to have a Parish-wide ministry fair sometime in March, date to be determined. The idea is to have our current ministries represented at tables in the back of the church after all the Masses with representatives from those ministries to describe the work and what kinds of volunteer services are needed.
For example, we have the Food Pantry, LGBTQ+ ministry, Young Adults Ministry, Arts and Environment, Restorative Justice, Our Spanish-speaking ministries and ESL program, and Children’s Faith Formation.
We also want to encourage new ministries. We need volunteer support with Altar Servers, ushers and greeters, homeless outreach, and stewardship sustainability (ecological awareness, carbon-neutral goals, and fund-raising/endowment ministry.)
A new parishioner recently asked the PC if we could create a young parents’ group for parishioners with small children. She had enjoyed such a group in her former parish where young mothers (and fathers) could gather for daytime walks, or other shared interests.
We also would like to resume our St. Agnes Men’s spirituality group.
So, as you can see, there are many opportunities for us to grow together in service. And I am sure many of you have other ideas for ministries we may not have thought of or perhaps there are things that we used to do pre-pandemic that we can pick up again.
This weekend we celebrate the feast of our Patron Saint, Saint Agnes. Please join us after
The 10:30 or the 1:30 Mass on Sunday in the ISLC to celebrate our parish’s namesake.
Archbishop Cordileone will be joining us for the Spanish Mass (and he will visit us again at the 10:30 Mass for confirmations on May 7th )
Thank you for all you do to make St. Agnes such a vibrant, welcoming, and warm community!
Happy Feast of St. Agnes!
Fr. George
