Happy Sunday dear Parishioners! I hope you are all fine and safe.
"Let us discover the heart of God through His life giving Words."
Pope Francis' Apostolic Letter, Aperuit Illis, he outlines his vision that this day is “to be devoted to the celebration, study and dissemination of
the Word of God” (Aperuit Illis, 3). The title of the Letter comes from Luke 24:45, where the evangelist tells us that the Risen Jesus appeared to the disciples on Easter Day and “he opened their minds to understand the Scriptures.” The Pope explains:
“The relationship between the Risen Lord, the community of believers and Sacred Scripture is essential to our identity as Christians. Without the Lord who opens our minds to them, it is impossible to understand the Scriptures in depth. Yet the contrary is equally true: without the Scriptures, the events of the mission of Jesus and of his Church in this world would remain incomprehensible. Hence, St. Jerome could rightly claim: ‘Ignorance of the Scriptures is ignorance of Christ’” (ibid., 1). Pope Francis expresses his hope that devoting a specific Sunday of the liturgical year to the word of God “can enable the Church to experience anew how the risen Lord opens up for us the treasury of his Word and enables us to proclaim its unfathomable riches before the world” (ibid., 2).
Our Parish will be offering Vacation Bible School this Summer (VBS), spearheaded by Ma'am Donna Maria Friedman. It a great opportunity for your children to know the Word of God in a very exciting and joyful way. We need also volunteers to make this program materialize on June. If you have questions pls email Ma'am Donna- Donna.m.friedman@gmail.com.
Yours in Christ, the Divine Redeemer,
