Legal Protection
In the United States, today is a Day of Prayer for the Legal Protection of Unborn Children. The General Instruction of the Roman Missal states:
“In all the Dioceses of the United States of America, January 22 (or January 23, when January 22 falls on a Sunday) shall be observed as a particular day of prayer for the full restoration of the legal guarantee of the right to life and of penance for violations to the dignity of the human person committed through acts of abortion”
Today's 9 Days for Life novena has a prayer for life:
Father and maker of all,
you adorn all creation
with splendor and beauty,
and fashion human lives
in your image and likeness.
Awaken in every heart
reverence for the work of your hands,
and renew among your people
a readiness to nurture and sustain
your precious gift of life.
Grant this through our Lord
Jesus Christ, your Son,
who lives and reigns with you in
the unity of the Holy Spirit,
God forever and ever.
Amen.

Love More
Our food pantry project is coming along nicely. We passed the rough inspections. The carpenter is spackling. Tomorrow, we begin installation of bathroom fixtures. We could be mostly finished within another month or thereabouts.
The new food pantry will be more than a food pantry. It will be the new headquarters for our St. Vincent de Paul Society conference. We'll be in a better position to help people in need including "Walking with Moms."
Penance
If you'd like a particular penance, come to confession today from 2 to 4 PM and 6 to 7 PM.
God love you,
Fr. Jim
