January 23rd-26th
This week was short and busy. On Tuesday we spent most of the morning outside playing in the snow! It was a gorgeous day and we took advantage of it before the really cold weather came back.
This week will be our last week for snow & snowflakes. Next week we will move on to our next theme of Caring & Kindness. Hard to believe next week is February already!
This week we worked on our snowman names. This was a multi step process project. They started with Ms. Alayna and cut circles that had the letters of their names. They wrote/traced the letters of their names in each circle. This was a big part of the project for the long names. Once they were finished cutting they went to the next station with Ms. Kim. They glued the circles of their names onto blue paper to create a snowman. They used name cards as a guide to put their letters in order. Then they cut out a rectangle and square to make a snowman hat. They glued the head circle, hat pieces and a triangle nose onto the snowman. At the end they picked out two googly eyes to glue on.
On Thursday to conclude our snow theme we read the book How to Catch a Snowman. Before we read the book they each got to tell the class how they would catch a snowman. We have some very creative kids! We read the book and compared our method to the methods they used in the book. We didn’t have any of the same ideas but they liked the traps in the book as well.
Next week will be busy as it is Catholic Schools Week and there are lots of activities. Today we sent home a paper with the daily dress-up themes. They are:
