January 29, 2023: Fourth Sunday in Ordinary Time
Happy, holy and joyous 4th Sunday in Ordinary Time! We give thanks to God for so many blessings at St. Lawrence the Martyr Parish and School!
Today we begin Catholic Schools Week with our Open House where we invite every parishioner to come and celebrate the good news of Catholic Schools. I am a little biased in my joy in this week, but beyond my own experience with Catholic Schools, especially my experience of being a teacher here at St. Lawrence the Martyr Elementary and Middle School for six years before entering seminary, I can honestly say; Catholic Schools are great.
I have spoken many times at Mass, in community events and one on one with parishioners that our Catholic School here at St. Lawrence the Martyr is open to everyone. I invite you once more, to come and visit and talk with our school principal Ms. Christine Frea and all the faculty and staff of St. Lawrence Elementary and Middle School and discover the joy of learning and the blessing of a Catholic Education.

Hoy comenzamos la Semana de las Escuelas Católicas con nuestras Puertas Abierta donde invitamos a todos los feligreses a venir y celebrar las buenas noticias de las Escuelas Católicas. Estoy un poco prejuiciado en mi gozo en esta semana, pero más allá de mi propia experiencia con las Escuelas Católicas, especialmente mi experiencia como maestro aquí en la Escuela Primaria e Intermedia de San Lorenzo Mártir durante seis años antes de ingresar al seminario, honestamente puedo decir: Las escuelas católicas son geniales.
He hablado muchas veces en Misa, en eventos comunitarios y uno a uno con feligreses, que nuestra Escuela Católica aquí en San Lorenzo está abierta para todos. Los invito una vez más a visitar y hablar con la directora de nuestra escuela, la Sra. Christine Frea, y con todo el personal docente y administrativo de la Escuela Primaria e Intermedia, y descubrir la alegría de aprender y la bendición de una educación católica.

February 3: Blessing of the Throats
The traditional Blessing of the Throats will be given on the feast of Saint Blaise next Friday, February 3 at the 8:30 AM Mass and at the 7:00 PM first Friday bilingual Mass. The sacrament of the Anointing of the Sick will also be offered at the end of the 7:00 PM Mass.

Join our training program at the School of Gratitude of the Franciscans of Mary, so that in imitation of Saint Francis of Assisi and the Blessed Virgin Mary we advance in the knowledge of our faith and together seek holiness. We meet every Friday from 5:30 to 7:00 PM in the Parish Hall. There is a course for adults and a course for children at the same time. The program is in Spanish.

Please pray for all those who have made commitments in the consecrated life, and be sure to thank them on their special day. May they continue to be inspired by Jesus Christ and respond generously to God's gift of their vocation.
