The Mustard Seed
It is like a mustard seed that, when it is sown in the ground, is the smallest of all the seeds on the earth. But once it is sown, it springs up and becomes the largest of plants and puts forth large branches, so that the birds of the sky can dwell in its shade.” (Mk 4:31-32)
In today’s gospel, Jesus tells the Parable of the Mustard Seed to his disciples. He compares a mustard seed to the Kingdom of God. Like the mustard seed, the Lord’s kingdom is alive and organic, growing and spreading. Like the mustard seed that grows from a seed into a massive tree with room for all in its branches, so is the kingdom growing and inviting all to come.
What signs of growth do you see in your faith life? How are you using your gifts to support the growth of the kingdom of God?
