St. Hyacinth Catholic Church in Deer Park - Tornado Damage
Many people suffered significant losses due to the tornado and will need our prayers and support. I've focused on St. Hyacinth because their Pastor, Fr. Reginald Samuels has a strong connection to our parish, our choir, our ministries, Fr. Mario and Fr. Scott. - John Wincelowicz
This morning, Fr. Reginal shared the following status of his parish.
- The EF3 tornado has completely destroyed the older Religious Education building. The structure is currently being secured, stabilized and boarded up and will soon have to be taken down.
- The main Church received minimum damage. There is some damage to the roof, and one of the windows in the Church and one window in the narthex has been taken out due to the tornado.
- The parish offices were affected by the tornado and we can no longer occupy the offices. The contractors have moved everything out of the offices into storage. We are working with the contractors to move the parish offices to another location on the complex.
- The rectory and Guyot Hall received moderate damage, especially to the roof and the AC units on the roof.
- Currently, there is no power nor water services to the facilities. The Contractors are currently working to restore power to the buildings along with Water services, and we should have full power shortly through generators connected to the parish facilities

Resumption of Holy Communion from the Chalice
Distribution of the Precious Blood from the Chalice resumed on January 14.
We’ll utilize a limited number of cup ministers at every Mass until we see how much interest the community has in receiving it, and then we can gradually increase as the demand warrants. Please note you are not obligated to receive from the chalice.
