Why does the Catholic Church baptize babies rather than wait until they are older and capable of choosing this sacrament for themselves? Salvation requires faith, and it can be challenging to understand how an infant accepts the truths of the Catholic Faith at the moment of Baptism.
Today Fr. Mike uses an example from Mark’s Gospel to help us understand how the profession of faith by our parents at the moment of our Baptism prepares us to receive the gift of salvation later in our lives.

Service Project by Mia Norris
Parents will have the opportunity to drop off their children (ages 5-13) and spend the night out for Valentine's Day. Each child would be responsible for bringing $10 and 2 canned goods (non-perishable). The $10 would partially go towards paying for the dinner they would have (pizza, juice boxes, water bottles), and the remaining would go towards Hunger In America the cause for my service project. The canned goods would go to the food pantry that Saint Mary's is connected with. While at the event, the kids would be doing a service activity, making cards for hospital patients which I would drop off the following day. They would be reading the Gospel readings for the day. They would participate in contests and games centered around Valentine's Day with Valentine's Day prizes like candy and decorative trinkets.

A reminder of what happens when the weather is bad during the winter:
If school is cancelled, Mass is cancelled as well. If the roads are unsafe for students to travel, people should stay home and the Mass will be livestreamed.
If there is a delay, then Mass will be held in the Parish Center chapel so that only the entrance to the center and the connector need to be cleared of snow for access.
If there is an early dismissal from school, any evening activities, Masses, devotions or meetings are cancelled.
On the weekend, please check our parish website or sign up for Flocknote to be aware of the latest changes to the schedule. A weather notice of any cancellation will be posted on our homepage and Facebook page for easy access. Cancellations will also be displayed on WCVB (5) and WHDH (7) TV stations.
If in doubt and you feel that your walkway or the roads are unsafe or are uncertain of conditions here at church, then PLEASE STAY HOME and stay in to be safe. Do not risk a fall or injury.
