St. Oscar Romero Parish is blessed to have hundreds of volunteers. As you know, every volunteer in the Diocese of Pittsburgh must obtain required diocesan clearances. In order to be fully compliant, every volunteer must be active in Virtus, and have a valid Child Abuse clearance, FBI waiver or fingerprint, and Protecting God’s Children training. I have been contacting these parishioners directly (either through email or the postal mail) to notify them of expired Child Abuse and FBI waivers that need to be updated. Parish volunteers will be contacted directly from the Diocesan Safe Environment office when you have Protecting God’s Children training due.
The Diocese has been sending notifications of Protecting God’s Children training for the past few weeks. The Diocese sent usernames and passwords for parishioners who need this training. Protecting God’s Children training is REQUIRED for ALL volunteers in every parish in the Pittsburgh Diocese. Everyone must take this training: priests, parish staff members and all volunteers. When you receive a notification from the Diocesan Safe Environment Office, PLEASE take the training. Without this training, you remain non-compliant. If you do not take this training and remain non-compliant, you are not allowed to volunteer in any capacity in any parish in the Diocese. This is a requirement throughout the Pittsburgh Diocese.
