I was grinning from ear to ear as I watched the children at Sunday’s Mass for the kick off of Catholic Schools Week. Our student participation was one of the highest in many years. A huge Thank You to the parents and students who attended and participated in the Mass.
St. Elizabeth Ann Seton helped lay the foundation for our school by forming the one of the first parochial school in the United States in 1810. In 1883, Alpena’s St. Mary of the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church was established with a two-room schoolhouse built in 1888. Today, our All Saints School is growing and glowing with enthusiasm.
Catholic Schools Week is an important opportunity for our students to practice service, faith, excellence, and FUN! The students have adopted a United States Air Force Security Troup in the Middle East, written Thank You letters to civil servants who help our community run smoothly, and learned more about students in another Catholic school by becoming pen pals with St. Ignatius students. CSW ends with the Winter Wonderland Dinner and Auction. This will be a wonderful evening which raises funds for our school. Our deepest appreciation to everyone who is contributing their time and talents to making this event possible.
“Catholic education aims not only to communicate facts, but also to transmit a coherent, comprehensive vision of life, in the conviction that the truths contained in that vision liberate students in the most profound meaning of human freedom.” Pope John Paul II
May we all grow in faith, love, and knowledge.
