NOTES FROM THE PRINCIPAL
Dear Parents,
What a fabulous week! How exciting it was to see our entire community participate in the various activities of Catholic Schools Week!
So many people are responsible for the smooth operation of the week’s festivities. We are truly grateful to our devoted SJB families and faculty/staff for their generous gifts of time and effort to make this week memorable for the students. The display of teamwork from teachers, staff, parents, and students throughout the week is what makes St. John Bosco more than a school, it makes us a community.
It was truly gratifying to see so many of our current families attend Open House to admire the children’s brilliant art and science projects on full display and enjoy the performance of our very own student choir. A special thanks to our School Advisory Board Members and Campus Ambassadors for providing tours to visiting families considering enrollment for next year. It is indeed a proud moment for us to witness our 7th and 8th graders, who not long ago were in preschool, now leading families around campus and eloquently expressing their experience at St. John Bosco.
Enrollment is now open to new families so tell your family and friends to apply. And current families should not forget to take advantage of the re-enrollment discounts for re-enrolling by February 28.
Lastly, I hope to see you at the 21st Annual SJB Gala tomorrow night. What a wonderful way to end our Catholic Schools Week by celebrating together! It is a time for all of our parents, grandparents, teachers, parishioners, and community members to gather to break bread and raise funds for our school with some awesome auction items, especially the NEW Principal and Teacher Experiences. Most importantly, however, the gathering will remind each of us why we choose to provide our children with the gift of a Catholic Education.

SCHOOL NEWS
IMPORTANT ESA UPDATE
We are thrilled that so many SJB families are taking advantage of Arizona's Empowerment Scholarship Account! There is understandably a great deal of interest and many questions. To ease the delay in receiving answers, please note the following:
- It is critical that parents understand their ESA contract. This contract is with the state; St John Bosco is only a vendor to the program and, as such, we have no control over how ESA funds are distributed. All of the information and instructions on how to manage your ESA account are on the ESA website. This program is new to everyone; it is the parents' responsibility to educate themselves about the contract.
- We appreciate your patience as we navigate Quarter 3 (Q3) of the ESA program. Mrs. McLean has received mountains of emails and is working as fast as she can to address everyone's questions and requests for Q3 invoices. Please make sure you have submitted all invoices that have been sent before requesting a Q3 Invoice.
- Some people will be receiving RECEIPTS for Q3. These receipts are for funds that have already been paid to Bosco prior to ESA becoming effective. Receipts must be uploaded as reimbursements. Classwallet will then transfer those funds to the bank account you have connected to your account. Instructions on how to upload RECEIPTS are on the ESA website.
ENROLLMENT NEWS
We are aware of issues in RenWeb last weekend due to the high volume of enrollment. The issues appear to be resolved, but if you still have problems, please call Mrs. McLean at (480) 219-4848 ext. 5106. We suggest you complete your re-enrollment packet ASAP to reserve your spot for next year.
Money-Saving Note: Families who re-enroll by February 28, 2023, will receive a discounted enrollment fee of $150 per K–8 student and/or $200 for Preschool, with a family maximum of $250. On March 1, enrollment fees will increase to $200 for K–8 students and/or $225 for Preschool, with a family maximum of $300.
Bonus Incentive: Families who re-enroll their student(s) by Monday, February 28 will receive a free dress day for their child(ren).
Referral Program: Each referring family will receive $300 credit towards their child’s tuition/fees for each family they refer and who enrolls for the 2023-24 school year. Spread the news about what our school has to offer!

The Yearbook Committee is working hard to create another great book of memories and we need YOUR help. We know parents have some of the best pictures from many events here at SJB. Please take a moment to share those photos with us — class parties, holiday events, sports events, art masterpiece, just hanging out around campus — we want it all! Thank you for helping us create a lifetime of memories for every student, teacher, and family.

SCRIP SHOP
The Scrip office will be placing the next bulk order for physical gift cards on Monday, February 6 at 8:00 AM. This is a great opportunity to order any physical cards through the RaiseRight app. Cards ordered before 8:00 AM on February 6 will arrive at the school by Monday, February 13th for distribution to families.
Of course, you are always encouraged to order e-cards anytime through the app; the deadline above only applies to physical card orders.

**Attention Safeway cardholders: Safeway will be launching new cards in the coming weeks. Until then, reloads of your existing cards will be unavailable and the office has no more physical cards to sell at this time. The new cards will be ordered as soon as they become available. You may still purchase electronic cards for Safeway and print them to use in-store.
