You and your choirs are invited to be part of this event where hundreds of students in grades 4-12 from various Catholic Schools and churches across Northern California will unite for a day of musical excellence; spiritual and personal growth; academic and cultural enrichment; and community, inclusion, and friendship. Archbishop Salvatore Cordileone is a big supporter of Pueri Cantores and will celebrate the Festival Mass.
On the day of the Festival, the combined choir of hundreds of students is led by a nationally recognized Catholic conductor/educator who engages and inspires the gathered choristers, bringing the sacred music to life. The Festival day lasts 7 hours with ample rehearsal time, lunch/snack breaks, opportunities for children to interact with their peers, and the day culminates with the Festival Mass, where the trained combined choir shares their beautiful young voices to enhance the liturgy. This course approaches apologetics as the branch of theology concerned with the rational grounds for the Catholic faith as well as responses to objections raised against it. The course will explore arguments concerning (1) the reasonableness of faith; (2) the existence and nature of God and his revelation; (3) who Jesus is, why he matters, and the case for his death and resurrection; and (4) the claims of the Catholic Church. On this World Day of the Sick, at Oakland's Christ the Light Cathedral, join Benedict XVI for the world premiere of a new healing Mass honoring our Lady of Lourdes. Oakland's Bishop Michael C. Barber and San Francisco's Archbishop Salvatore J. Cordileone will join forces for this very special healing Mass composed by Frank La Rocca for the Benedict XVI Institute. The Oakland and San Francisco locations of the Sovereign Military Hospitaller Order of Saint John of Jerusalem of Rhodes and of Malta will combine forces to assist. The Order of Malta will assist "the malades" all those seriously ill in need of healing for a special Anointing and all those taking care of the sick for a special blessing. Hospitality includes healing water from Lourdes.
Experience the healing power of soaring sacred music as performed by the Benedict XVI Choir, 20 world-class singers under the direction of Richard Sparks. Doctors, nurses, first responders, and other medical professionals who care for the sick are especially invited to attend as well as those suffering from physical, mental, or spiritual sickness.
