HOW TO GET CONFIRMED AS A CATHOLIC ADULT?

Catholic adults who are active in the practice of their faith but who, for whatever reason, have never received the Sacrament of Confirmation are encouraged to do so. The Adult Confirmation process will consist of welcoming potential candidates and conducting a discernment interview to assess readiness to enter sacramental preparation. Sacramental Preparation will begin after Easter. This preparation will consist of weekly sessions, a day of reflection, and a final interview. LIVING JUSTICE: CATHOLIC SOCIAL TEACHING IN ACTION

We learned about Catholic Social Teaching in our lecture series, now let’s know
how to live it. Join the Social Justice in Action Ministry Team for a book
discussion on “Living Justice: Catholic Social Teaching in Action” (third edition) by
Thomas Massaro, SJ. Let’s learn together how to take the next step in our lives as Catholic Christians.

We will meet on the fourth Thursday of the month. The first meeting will be on February 23rd in the Fellowship Hall at 7:00 p.m. In addition, mark your calendar for March 23rd, April 27th, and May 25th.

Over these four Thursday night sessions, we will discuss two chapters at each
meeting. Please read the chapters before the discussion. The books are available on Amazon and Barnes and Noble. Check out the options, including eBooks.

THE WORLD OF LATE ANTIQUITY AND THE RISE OF ISLAM
Roy Hughes, our parishioner and historian, will talk about the rise of Christianity, the birth of modern Europe, and the spread of Islam during this period on Tuesday, February 28th, at 11:00 a.m. in the Fellowship Hall.

Lunch will be served, and there will be time for questions at the end.

HAVE THE HEART TO CARE FOR INFANTS AND TODDLERS?

Ministers are needed to help parents with the sign-in of their child, and since “dropoff” is sometimes a tough transition, help distract children by playing games on the playground, holding a child, and/or, in general, being an extra pair of hands for the first 20 minutes of Little Flowers Sunday Nursery on every Sunday from 9:50 a.m. to 10:10 a.m.

The nursery is run by an employee of the St Theresa Early Childhood Center (ECC). The nursery is between the Church and Fellowship Hall (enter through the small gate near the back of the Narthex).

UNDERSTAND AND ENJOY THE SUNDAY GOSPEL AND READINGS

Children are invited to join the Liturgy of the Word on Sundays, February 5th, February 12th, and February 26th during the 10:00 a.m. Mass in the Red Room. Liturgy of the Word for Children is a program in which the Sunday scripture readings are proclaimed and explained on a level appropriate to children in grades Pre-K through 2nd. DO ORDINARY TASKS WITH EXTRAORDINARY LOVE
The Altar Guild ministers clean and wash our communion linens every week. We are in need of more ministers to take home Communion linens to launder, iron and return to the church. Like our Patron, St. Theresa of Lisieux, we can all help in “little ways,” and this is one of those ways. MINISTERS NEEDED
During the Mass, at the beginning of the Liturgy of the Eucharist, Gift Bearers bring forward the bread and wine which will become the Body and Blood of Christ. They represent the entire community. At all times, if you are sick or not feeling well, please avoid receiving the Precious Blood from the cup. Receiving the consecrated host alone is sufficient grace.

If you are sick, please receive the Body of Christ in the hand to help avoid the risk of spreading your illness to others. This is one more sign of being the best of neighbors and disciples. Thank You!

SERVING OTHERS IS SERVING GOD

St. Theresa will volunteer at the Loaves and Fishes Soup Kitchen at 20009 Congress Street, Houston, Texas 77002. From 8:30 a.m. to noon on Friday, February 17th. Volunteers will help prepare and package a hot meal and then distribute about 300 to-go boxes to the homeless. Volunteers must be 15 years or older.
