In the middle of March, we celebrate two great saints in the Catholic Church: St. Patrick (March 17th) and St. Joseph, spouse of Mary and father to Jesus (March 19th).
St. Patrick: English-born and kidnapped by pirates at the age of 16, Patrick eventually escaped his slavery in Ireland to later return as a priest, converting many and becoming the island's patron saint.
St. Joseph: the upright carpenter betrothed to Mary who remained faithful to God and served as guardian and protector of the Son of God.
Both of these figures stubbornly sought the will of God, even in the face of unexpected suffering. May both these two men and all the holy saints of the Church intercede for us on our earthly journey this Lent!
