Parish Picnic. The Parish Picnic is this Saturday, June 2nd following the 5:00 pm Mass. The Parish provides the meat, drinks, and games, and the parish community supplies the salads, chips, desserts, and fun!
Parishioners with the last name beginning with A-M please bring a side dish.
Parishioners with the last name beginning with N-Z please bring a dessert.
NOTE: As Fr Frank is leaving us after 7 great years there will be a basket on the dessert table if you want to give him a card thanking him for he has done for us!
Sundancer Fund Raiser. Exciting news! The Sundancer Gala will be held on
Saturday, October 13th at Pinehurst Country Club. Our goal is to raise $100,000 for both the school and parish. The theme this year is
There’s No Place like Home. This year’s paddle raiser will go towards an electronic message board to display school and parish announcements on the corner of 20th and Miller. We are excited to continue to build community between both the school and parish!
If you are interested in volunteering or have questions about donations, please contact the parish office or email sundancergala@gmail.com.
Thank you for being part of our Our Lady of Fatima family!
A few of the many other things going on in our parish this month:
Corpus Christi Procession
Please join us for the Corpus Christi procession at 3 pm on Sunday, June 3, which is the Solemnity of the Body and Blood of Christ. There will be a procession with the Blessed Sacrament, along with prayers and hymns, followed by Adoration and Benediction in the Church.
Perpetual Adoration
There is no better way to spend time than with the Lord in Adoration. Our Adoration Chapel is perpetual only because of the dedicated adorers who keep vigil. Please consider signing up to be a regular or substitute Adorer through Pentecost 2019. It takes all of us to keep our Perpetual Adoration Chapel open. Signup at
Adoration Signup or at
www.FatimaLakewood.com/Adoration. We are looking to fill Sunday at 11 pm and Friday at 7 pm, as well as looking to form teams to cover a couple of the open overnight slots. If you would be willing to cover one of these slots once every 8-12 weeks, please email us at
olfadoration@gmail.com.
Respect Life
Lauren Castillo of Students for Life will speak at the June 19th Respect Life meeting. Her presentation is entitled “Living Pro-Life -- How you can compassionately live out your pro-life beliefs and leave a legacy you can pass on to the next generation." We invite everyone to come, especially parents and those involved in junior high, high school and young adult ministries. The meeting will be held in the school cafeteria starting at 7:00 pm with a Rosary for Life.
Religious Education / Youth Ministry
June 13 & 14 at 6:00 pm in School Gym and Cafeteria - Vacation Bible School Volunteer Preview & Meeting.
June 18 - 22, 9:00 am to noon - School Gym and Cafeteria - Vacation Bible School
June 24 - 28, 7:00 - 9:00 pm in Parish Hall, Gym, Church - Totus Tuus for Middle and High School Students.
June 25 - 29, 9:00 am - 2:30 pm in OLF School - Totus Tuus for grades 1-6.
Vacation Bible School Volunteers: We still need high school and middle school students to lead our small family groups. Each family group is limited to 10 children and we need at least two leaders per group. The middle and high school youth who have helped in the past really enjoy taking care of the younger children as they learn more about the Bible and ancient culture. This year we are going to Babylon and the prophet Daniel is the focus of the Scriptural narrative. Please click on this link to learn more about the volunteer opportunities.

Totus Tuus Volunteers: Adults are needed to help prepare meals and snacks, and youth, ages 13-17, are needed to help prepare snacks and assist the Totus Tuus team with the class and recess. Anyone age 18 and older needs to have a background check and Safe Environment Training.

Our Lady of Fatima School
A note from our principal:
I always take pride in our students, and this is no exception. Earlier in the month, I was informed that we had three 8th grade students who are recipients of the annual Mullen Merit Scholarship. Frank Cawley, Mullen's Admissions Director, called me to let me know of the results. This is the first time in 15 years of giving this scholarship at Mullen that three Merit Scholars are coming from the same school. We are truly blessed at Fatima.
I informed Archbishop Aquila, Father Dollins, Father Henri, the new Superintendent, and the rest of the Office of Catholic Schools. It is also posted on our school's Facebook and Instagram pages.
In addition to the effort of our students, I am also proud of our extraordinary faculty. They help our parents, as parents and primary educators of their children, shape all of our students so they can be the best they can academically and spiritually.
Sincerely,
Lisa Taylor
PARISH VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES
New Parishioners Ministry!
Our goal is to personally reach out to new parishioners and make them feel welcome and loved at Our Lady of Fatima. We are planning on doing this by looking for a team of volunteers to meet one on one with a new parishioner. On average, a volunteer would meet with a new parishioner once every two months. This would entail calling/emailing the new parishioner, meeting with them one on one at Our Lady of Fatima Parish, and showing Christ’s love to them by creating friendships with them. Fatima Mass Greeters
Would you like to become a Greeter for weekend Mass? We invite you to sign up and try it out! We especially need Greeters for Saturday 5 pm and Sunday 5 pm Masses. Being a Greeter is simple! We arrive 15-20 min. early to Mass and station ourselves at an exterior door of the church. As people arrive, we offer a friendly hello and open the door. If you are feeling a nudge from the Holy Spirit, email Elisa Foster or signup today online at
SignUpGenius. To see a greeter in action, click
here. Thank you for prayerfully considering helping welcome the Lord’s flock to the Supper of the Lamb!
