Hello Friends -
This is a special Monday edition of the Friday Flocknote!
Sports. We've all witnessed the loss of human civility that's possible when a big win is on the line. People get crazy for their favorite team.
Keeping this in mind, I set out yesterday to watch my favorite team, which happens to be any team from Our Lady of Peace School. I had the pleasure of attending the 8th grade boys basketball team's championship game against St. Andrew. I'll admit, I relished the win! But more than that, I was proud of the OLP players, coaches, and families for their hard work, respectful conduct and good sportsmanship. It was a reminder of how much joy sports, when played for the glory of God, can bring to our world.
This is true of all of our teams at Our Lady of Peace. Not only do they play well, (for basketball, the 5th grade boys won their championship game, the 5th grade girls went undefeated in the regular season, the 6th grade boys won their championship game, and the 8th grade girls made it to the semi-finals!), but their conduct reflects their Christian values and upbringing.
Thank you to the coaches, parents, teachers, and OLP community for modeling Christian conduct for our kids. In this crazy world, we're really doing okay.
Go Tigers!
Under the Protection of Our Lady of Peace,
