When we planted the church in 2011 much prayer and consideration was put into how our Kids Ministries would operate and how the children would benefit the most. Of course, over time, things change and we learn to adapt around a number of different circumstances. Mostly, the number of kids at the time, their age groups, and the meeting space. However, our biggest delimma over the years has been getting enough volunteers to help.
Going back to the beginning, we used recommendations from the Southern Baptist Convention and many other professional resources to build a Christ-centered learning platform for kids up to 4th Grade. Because of our lack of adequate resources for a nursery at the restaurant, the community center, and at our new building, our minimum age has always been “potty trained”. Some teachers have been kind and adapted in a few situations. However, we are not equipped to teach or care for children that are not potty trained.
The age bracket for the Kids Kruisers will again revert back to the original guidelines of Potty Trained up to 4th Grade.
Most all professional resources say that children in 5th Grade and up should be in attendance with the adults to begin learning the nature of worship and to begin an early understanding of church structure. Back in 2014 or 2015 we began the Stunt Riders to accommodate an influx of rising 5th and 6th Graders. And while this worked for a season, and due to our current situation, we are at that crossroad where it’s time to revert back to our original format.
Affective this Sunday, we will no longer have a class for kids over 4th Grade and they should remain in the sanctuary with their guardian/parent.
Hopefully, in the near future, we can get a double-wide modular classroom to bring the Stunt Riders back. But for now, we appreciate your understanding in his matter. We do apologize for any inconveniences.
In Him,
Randy
