This Weekend:
I'd like to jump-start Coffee and Donuts this coming weekend, March 12 after the 9am Mass. For this first one, I'll pick up the donuts and get the coffee started at about 8am.
I could certainly use some help setting up the tables, getting the coffee pots going, getting the coffee, donuts, creamers, etc. placed out on the main table. Just show up at 8am at the gym and we can get under way.
Finishing up, I could use a hand putting everything away and cleaning up.
When we've finished, it would be great to chat with the volunteers who are there and talk about the plan (below).
Looking Ahead:
Nota Bene: This is all open to suggestion, so if you have a better way we might organize, I am happy to listen!
(1) I'd like a small team of individuals who could oversee Coffee and Donuts (core team) to make sure all the pieces are working well. I have at least on interested party; if you're like to help, please let me know.
(2) I'd like to have four teams each month, with a captain (or pair) who will oversee one weekend a month, coordinating with the other members of that weekend to pick up the donuts (we'll have a standing order), get the coffee ready, get the tables set up, etc. If there is a consensus that this is a good way to organize, I'll send out a sign up for the weekends.
(3) On those months with five weekends: I would ask the members of the Coffee and Donuts Core Team to organize these weekends.
How each team decides to organize each weekend will be up to the captain(s). The same weekend-volunteers can do each weekend or, if there are many for each weekend team, it could be a rotating basis. You can bring more volunteers in to help with your weekends as necessary. Just let me know what tools or help you need to succeed and I'll do my best to assist!
For at least the first month (hopefully two) I will plan on assisting at all of the weekends to help get things under way. I'm sure there will be pitfalls along the way and little things that need to be accounted for that I hadn't thought of (I'm sure of it!).
Lastly:
Thank you all for your help getting this off the ground! I have really been looking forward to more and more opportunities to get to know the great parishioners of St. Catherine's and this will make it so much easier!
