To the “Flock” from the “Administrator”,
Welcome to the many new Flock families who signed up for Flocknotes this past weekend! It’s vitally important that we communicate. So, I hope you find these notes helpful to you.
[1] Last call for TODAY’S FISH FRY starting at 4:30 pm! If you happen to be one of those who were unable to pre-order, then you can still drop by and visit our busy kitchen staff to purchase a sit-down meal or carryout order until food supplies last. Our Knights of Columbus Council has expert cooks and servers waiting to feed your body before you feed your soul at the 7 pm Stations of the Cross. So don’t be late! Dinners will be served from 4:30 until 6:30 pm.
[2] Though the worst of Covid has passed, unresolved grief remains. Many families have undertaken tremendous upheaval these past few years including the sudden unexpected loss of loved ones. One can say that “Life has changed but not ended” but these can be just words for those who carry the heavy cross of grief. Healthy grieving normally lasts no more than 1 year, but these are different times. I am grateful to Dorothy McEwan and Mary Jo Van Horne who will be working to step up our BEREAVEMENT MINISTRY. Whether dealing with the death of an infant, a child, a spouse, a parent, or a loved one, grief is real, and the depression and sadness brought on by loss cannot be wished away. If you’re interested in joining Dorothy and Mary Jo in this ministry effort, please contact one of them at: Dorothy McEwan at 919-426-7353 or dmcewan67@twc.com or Mary Jo Van Horne at
919-810-9824 or maryjo1981@yahoo.com.
[3] We continue our 2023 BISHOP’S ANNUAL APPEAL and have reached 61% of our goal. The BAA funds many ministries throughout the Diocese. We are “Stronger Together”. Please make your pledge by bringing in your BAA cards or by clicking the donation link below.
[4] Congratulations to the 150 boys and girls who will make their FIRST RECONCILIATION tomorrow morning!
[5] Our LENTEN PENANCE SERVICES will be on Wednesday, March 22 from 10 am – 12 noon and on Wednesday, March 29 from 6:30 – 8:30 pm.
If you regularly make Wednesday confessions, then please note there will be no 5-6 pm confessions on these two days.
[6] Regardless of prior training or experience, a MANDATORY training session for all current and prospective EMHCs (Eucharistic Ministers of Holy Communion) and Saint Camillus ministers will be held in the church (you need only attend one session): Monday, March 13, or Monday, March 20 from 6:00-7:30 pm.
Again, thank you to those who continue to make appointments to speak with me about various issues and concerns. It is obvious how so many of you have a great love for our Lord and his bride, the Church. I appreciate your insights. May God continue to bless our Lenten journey.
Sincerely in Christ,
+ Fr Martin Fitzgerald
